5mm Sequin Yarn — Heavy Knit

A 5mm disc needs a base yarn that can carry it. We run this one on 300D polyester so the yarn holds its shape through a heavier gauge and the discs do not drag the fabric out of line.

This is the quality for chunky winter knitwear, and it is also what most of our hand-knitting yarn customers take, usually plied with a wool or acrylic on their own twisting machines. If you intend to ply it, tell us — we can adjust the binder twist so it does not fight your twist direction.

Yield drops to around 2,900 metres per kilo. That is the trade-off for the larger disc, and it is worth doing the sums on garment weight before you commit. A sweater made in this quality will weigh noticeably more than the same design in 3mm.
